NYS-ESG Session 13 – Dr. Ava Maxam

Most of us are familiar with the terrestrial aspects of the factors that can contribute to or be affected by climate change, as well as the social factors. However, there may be less awareness about marine sustainability and the importance of marine ecosystems, which impact terrestrial issues or, in turn, are impacted by terrestrial factors.

The NYSESG participants were enlightened on marine sustainability through a thought-provoking presentation by Dr. Ava Maxam Director of the Institute of Marine Affairs. Participants were introduced to the Blue Economy Revolution, mangroves and carbon sequestration, and blue economy financing & investing in ESG, among other areas.
