NYS-ESG Session 11 – David Roberts
March 22, 2025When tertiary-level institutions incorporate sustainability into their curriculum and overall approach to educating students, education meets edification.
The United World College (UWC) is a global education movement with the mission to make education a force to unite people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. The NYSESG had the pleasure of welcoming Danielle Chow and Keren Timara Permel from UWC, who presented on the school, its curriculum, and, most notably, the opportunities for scholarships to attend universities abroad that are aligned with sustainability values. The UWC experience is more than just an “education”; it is a holistic and immersive international experience for young students.
If you are between the ages of 16–18, currently in 5th or Lower 6th Form, with a keen and demonstrated interest in a sustainable world, and a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago, you could be eligible for full or partial scholarships to attend international universities (Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, Costa Rica, to name a few) to pursue two-year International Baccalaureate diplomas.
Danielle and Keren’s presentation generated significant interest among the student participants, and we dare say some potential scholarship candidates!
Thank you, Danielle and Keren, for bringing the UWC to our awareness. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people interested in sustainability career paths.
