February 25, 2025HARCON Launches the National Youth Sustainability and ESG (NYS-ESG) Pilot Project! 🌍
Monday marked a monumental step forward in sustainability education in Trinidad and Tobago with the official launch of the HARCON National Youth Sustainability and ESG (NYS-ESG) Pilot Project at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad.
This pioneering initiative, developed by HARCON Harrington Consulting Limited, is designed to integrate sustainable development and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into our educational system, starting with the next generation of leaders.
We were honoured to have Dr. the Honourable Nyan Gadsby- Dolly, Minister of Education whose Ministry has approved this project , The Honourable Pennelope Beckles-Robinson, Ministry of Planning and Development and the Honorable Foster Cummings, Minister of Youth Development and National Service whose Ministries have officially endorsed and supported this initiative and including Permanent Secretaries and senior officials, who showed strong support for this transformative program, their presence reinforced the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in advancing national sustainability goals.
The pilot project’s inaugural year includes students from Trinity College, Moka, Maraval and Queen’s Royal College—two schools chosen to embark on this journey of sustainability. Through this pilot, students will develop and execute projects centered around sustainable practices, gaining hands-on experience that will prepare them to be tomorrow’s environmental stewards.
The event also featured remarks from Ms. Frances Bain-Cumberbatch, Chief Legal and External Affairs, The ANSA McAL Group, Title Sponsor alongside key sponsors United Independent Petroleum Marketing Company Limited, National Flour Mills Limited, RHAND Credit Union Co-operative Society Limited, Hyatt Regency Trinidad, Guardian Media Limited, HRMATT Human Resource Management Assoc. of T&T, Caribbean Information and Credit Rating Services (CariCRIS), The Circular Caribbean, Environmental Management Authority, Redtent Media, and Recycling Waste & Logistics Limited as well as members of the NYSESG Steering Committee, who have worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. The NYS-ESG project is about more than just learning; it’s about empowering youth with the tools and knowledge to create tangible impact in their communities and, ultimately, in our world.
